Cheez-It/Allrecipes
When it comes to offering bigger and bolder snack innovations, Cheez-It is not one to shy away. Ever the trailblazer, the brand behind everyone's favorite baked crackers is notorious for putting out some of the most imaginative—and sometimes unhinged—creations. Just last year, it introduced the first-ever Cheez-It Diner in Woodstock, New York, which offered vanilla milkshakes made with crushed Cheez-It crackers and caramel sauce. Then it teamed up with Taco Bell for a Big Cheez-It menu that included a massive Cheez-It Tostada, loaded with all your favorite taco fillings.
Cheez-It has proven time and time again that there are no limits to how you can enjoy its fan-favorite crackers. That said, sometimes, nothing hits the spot quite like the classic OG variety.
Now, hot on the heels of its highly anticipated pizza-inspired Duoz Pesto & Mozzarella snack, Cheez-It has quietly rolled out a new limited-edition flavor of the cracker that started it all—but you can only get it from Walmart.
Cheez-It's New Cheesy Taco Flavor
Some eagle-eyed shoppers recently discovered a new Cheez-It flavor lurking in the snack aisles of Walmart. The limited-edition Cheesy Taco Cheez-Its possess everything we love about the original Cheddar crackers, but with all the delicious flavors of taco seasoning, like chili, cumin, oregano, and lime. According to the brand, there are even notes of sour cream nestled in every bite.
If taco sounds familiar, it's because Cheez-It previously put out a Cheesy Taco flavor for its line of Grooves crackers. Grooves are lighter, crunchier, and more chip-like. As a result, the Cheesy Taco Grooves tasted more like a hard taco shell, which is very different from the crisp and tender bite of a baked Cheez-It.
"They’re very good," a shopper shared on Facebook. "I bought a couple of boxes [and] gonna buy more, they’re very similar to the old Cheez-It Groove ones except with a different base cheese flavor" and "just as good taco seasoning."
Cheddar and tacos are a winning combination, so these new Cheez-Its seem like a no-brainer buy. They're now available exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide for a limited time. With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, these might be a fun addition to the table.
